Business Layers has announced the signing of a strategic cooperation
agreement with professional services company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but it is likely to yield
Business Layers millions of dollars in the first year, and "tens of millions
of dollars" in following years.
Under the agreement, Business Layers' software will be used in the
organizational system management services PWC provides to its customers.
Business Layers' software allocates digital resources, such as network
access, e-mail accounts, telephony, software applications, and access to
databases and accompanying business systems. The software enables advanced
automation capabilities.
PricewaterhouseCoopers is an accounting firm considered the world's biggest
professional services company. The firm employs 150,000 staff in 150
countries.
Business Layers develops Internet solutions for managing the allocation of
digital resources to employees, customers, and business partners in the
dynamic B2B (business-to-business electronic commerce) environment. The
company's products enable customers to react quickly and efficiently to
business requirements.
Business Layers was set up in 1999 by Izhar Shay, formerly of the BRM group.
He founded Business Layers together with entrepreneurs Avi Zamir, former
president of RADCcom's US operations; Amir Weinstein, formerly with Bay
Networks' Israeli operations; and David Lavenda, formerly of IPhighway.
Business Layers' shareholders are venture capital funds Formula Ventures,
Israel Seed Partners and Gemini, and entrepreneur Yigal Jacoby. Software
company Novel l. invested $2 million in Business Layers in January, at a
company value of $25 million, after money.
The 70-staff company's head office is in New Jersey, and its development
center is in Raanana. The company has marketing and sales offices in the US,
Paris, London, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Israel.
