Short guys in front
From Redherring.com
May 14, 2000
NEW YORK -- Waiting for a flight at JFK, I ran into Michael Eisenberg from
Israel Seed Partners. Ever the value-adding VC, Michael took the opportunity
to pitch me on one of his latest investments, Primeshot.com. It's an online
photography play, that, keeping in spirit with the times, is B2B, not B2C.
Primeshot.com handles events photography services. It works with regional
professional photographers and helps them get gigs -- corporate events and
other gatherings -- and then takes on the photo processing (through its
partnership with District Photo) and distribution of the images via its Web
site. In addition to an hourly fee, the photographer may also get a
commission for each photo sold. Primeshot.com images are apparently
purchased more frequently than images on standard consumer photo sites,
simply because group business photos have more people -- customers -- in
them.
According to cofounders David Holder and Mike Niccolini, Primeshot.com is
closing deals with convention centers and companies that put on events like
class reunions. I think it would be a sensible partner to an invitation site
that focuses on corporate events, like SeeUThere, and perhaps a photo ID
technology company like ImageID. The company has raised $7.15 million so
far.
