Foxcom today announced that it recently received a contract from Globecomm
Systems, a leading provider of satellite ground segment systems, networks
and satellite services. The contract is for Foxcom's SAT-LIGHT(TM)
fiber-optic product.
SAT-LIGHT is a point-to-point professional broadcast fiber-optic
interfacility transmission system. It connects large satellite antennas to
headends and broadcast studios to satellite uplink facilities.
According to David S. Stehlin, Foxcom chief executive officer, "Globecomm
Systems' decision to use SAT-LIGHT reflects the management team's commitment
to delivering a superior, performance-oriented product."
Under the terms of the renewable agreement that began in November and will
run through calendar year 2000, Foxcom will be Globecomm Systems' provider
of fiber-optic products. The Foxcom solution meets increasing bandwidth
needs by replacing difficult-to-use coaxial cable with fiber for
intermediate frequencies (IFs) and L-band frequencies (390 MHz to 1550 MHz).
Globecomm Systems will utilize SAT-LIGHT to upgrade its signal connection on
both uplink and downlink transmissions. The Foxcom system is installed at
Globecomm Systems' headquarters facility in Hauppauge, New York.
