GURUNET FOUNDER, ROSENSCHEIN, RECOGNIZED AMONG NOMINEES FOR PRESTIGIOUS
WORLD TECHNOLOGY AWARD

The technology behind
GuruNet, the remarkable new system software utility that provides for fast
and useful Internet information retrieval, has placed its founder, Bob
Rosenchein amongst a distinguished group of innovators. Rosenschein was
recognized among finalists for the recently announced World Technology Award
for Start-Up Companies. The award was devised by The World Technology
Network to recognize the entrepreneurship at the of today's technology
advances.
Nominees and winners for this award included founders of innovative
start-ups creating new industries or dramatically altering or extending
existing ones. Other finalists for this award were Genadi Man, founder of
Telesens Corporation, Roy Stringer, Chief Hypermedia Architect, Amaze Ltd.,
and Chris Turner, Managing Director, Digital Communications Technologies.
The winner, announced at a ceremony on November 12, was Christopher Evans,
Chairman of Merlin Ventures.

Debuting in September, the GuruNet beta delivers instant, focused
information about any word appearing on the screen in any PC application
simply by pointing to a word in any kind of application and pressing Alt and
click. GuruNet automatically analyzes the pointed-to text in context and
pops up a simple window without leaving the current document. If the user is
online, GuruNet will tap the vast resources of the Internet to provide links
to related websites, reference information and books, as well as related
live information such as current news and stock quotes.
The beta version of GuruNet delivers premium content through a small
application on a Windows PC. Licensed content currently includes the
American Heritage Dictionary, Roget's Thesaurus and other dictionaries from
Houghton-Mifflin, the Columbia Reference Encyclopedia from Columbia
University Press, sports data from STATS, and news, stocks and company
profile information from NewsAlert. GuruNet's future content offerings will
include expanded reference information as well as real-time, international
and ecommerce content.
Users can obtain a beta copy of the software utility for free by downloading
it at www.gurunet.com, or at other selected
download sites, including Download.com, ZDNN or TUCOWS.com.
The product currently works under Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT. It supports
most Windows text applications, including Microsoft Office, email, PIMs and
all browsers. The download size is 700 KB, and total disk requirements are
1.5 MB. GuruNet software can be downloaded from a variety of download
websites as well as from www.gurunet.com. Estimated download time on a 28.8
modem is 3-4 minutes.
