BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The winners of the WORLD BILLING AWARDS were announced at the Gala Dinner on the 27th April 1999 at IIR's BILLING SYSTEMS 1999 Conference & Exhibition (26th - 29th April 1999) at the Olympia Conference Centre, London.
This is the third year that the Awards have been presented. Voting was open; winners were chosen by delegates attending IIR's Customer Care & Billing Events and by votes cast on the BILLING SYSTEMS 1999 Web Site (HTTP://telecoms.iir.co.uk/billing)
For the first time voting in two of the awards' categories resulted in a dead heat. LHS and AMDOCS shared the OVERALL - BEST CONTRIBUTION TO BILLING Award. The MOST INNOVATIVE BILLING PRODUCT Award was shared by XACCT TECHNOLOGIES and LHS. Interestingly, XACCT were a clear favourite amongst those voting via the conference web site whilst LHS were the favourite choice of attendees at the event itself.
There was a distinct Scandinavian flavour to the two Network Operator awards: BEST BILLING IMPLEMENTATION went to TELENOR in Norway and the Award for BEST CUSTOMER CARE OFFERED was won by SONERA (formerly TELECOM FINLAND)
For the second year running CAP GEMINI won the award for MOST HELPFUL SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR.
IIR's BILLING SYSTEMS Show is a landmark in the European events calendar and is now the largest dedicated gathering of communications billing professionals outside of the USA and the second largest telecoms industry conference in Europe. The demand for exhibition space continues to grow and this year the show has expanded to two floors at London's Olympia
Conference Centre.
The event - which comprises Operators' and Billing Development Forums as well as the main two day conference (unusual in that all of the main conference presentations were made by Telecoms Network Operators and not by Manufacturers or Billing Software Vendors) - was accompanied by the BILLING SYSTEMS 1999 EXHIBITION, and was attended by 1800 billing professionals from 60 countries representing all corners of the globe.
Exhibitors at the show have been delighted by the quality and global spread of attendees at BILLING SYSTEMS 1999...
James Berry, Managing Director of INTASYS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS said: "An impressive forum for our first show. We will definitely be back with a bigger presence next year and look forward with great anticipation to Billing Systems 2000."
Mark De Lacy, Account Manager of HIGHAMS RECRUITMENT SERVICES: "We have never been at such a focused show which has attracted such high quality delegates!"
