SOA will cause high-tech consolidation

IDC Edge survey: Israeli companies have recently been founded in the service oriented architecture market, include OpTier, Certagon Corporation, Coridan, and Itemfield.

Yachin says, "The common denominator of all these ventures is that they were founded by experience entrepreneurs who identified this rising market in time. The combined segments of this market are predicted to reach $40 billion by 2007. Most initial growth will be in software development, integration, and security. The survey fully maps developments in this world: technology jumps; the activities of major players; and acquisitions, such as CA's acquisition of a start-up, HP's acquisition of an SOA company; and Oblix's acquisition of Confluent Software. Although the transactions have so far been small, only $5-10 million each, the market is going to grow rapidly."
