Commtouch strengthens its anti-spam solution
| Commtouch, a global developer and provider of proprietary anti-spam solutions, said its Anti-Spam 3.5 version is now easier for customers and channel partners to install.
|Gideon Mantel, Commtouch's CEO, says that until April 15, Commtouch is offering any enterprise with more than 1,000 employees a free spam audit via the Commtouch Spam Analyzer. Moreover, on site installations - often a costly affair for resellers - have been eliminated through a downloadable installation for customers.
"We've been in the e-mail and messaging business for years," Mantel said. "Now our customers can audit their systems and implement our anti-spam solution online through one of our channel partners."
The company began shipping the software to resellers located across the globe recently. Commtouch's Anti-Spam 3.5 continues to feature its Recurrent Pattern Detection, a patent-pending technology that identifies and neutralizes spammer tricks that currently confound content analysis-based solutions, the company said. The version 3.5 also offers a range of additional features that meets the needs of larger enterprises, including a Spam Analyzer that enables the IT department to assess both the quantity and qualitative aspects of spam bombarding the enterprise 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Commtouch said it sees enterprises increasingly gravitating to a solution that, in real-time, can proactively identify outbreaks of e-mail messages sent en masse that pose inherent characteristics of unsolicited e-mails.
Mantel said Commtouch examines the DNA of e-mails across the Internet and identifying those that have characteristics of spam sent en masse.
All the messages in each spam outbreak have some recurrent patterns. Commtouch detects and classifies those patterns in real-time: Analyzing a large volume of real e-mail traffic over the Internet, detects new recurrent spam patterns immediately once they break out, and maintains a database of spam outbreaks; the software matches incoming messages against the spam outbreak database, in real-time.
Other unique benefits of Commtouch's Anti-Spam 3.5 include detecting spam in all languages and in all file formats, durability against spammer evolution, real-time protection from the first moment a new spam outbreak is unleashed, and it's effective against the growing threat of malicious and fraudulent spam messages, the company said.
Mantel said in addition to the Spam Analyzer, new features have been added to the existing Commtouch Anti-Spam solution to comprise the Commtouch Anti-Spam 3.5 version, which includes integration with enterprise resources such as existing SQL database and proxy servers, differentiated configuration capability for enterprises with multiple departments, and full support of Microsoft Exchange 2003, Windows 2003 and Outlook 2003.
