| Tops Tornado100 List as One of Most Innovative and Promising Emerging Companies
|ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. - May 12, 2003 - Business Layers, the eProvisioning Company(tm), has been named one of the top 25 emerging private technology companies in the Tornado Insider's third annual Tornado100. For the second consecutive year, Business Layers has earned a place in the Tornado100, an award that honors the one hundred most innovative and promising emerging technology companies in Europe. Since its founding in 1999, Business Layers defined a market category and quickly emerged as the industry's foremost provider of provisioning software, a cornerstone of enterprise security and identity management. The company's award-winning eProvision(tm) Software is used by global enterprises including Schering-Plough, ChevronTexaco, and other high profile organizations across diverse industries.
"We are extremely proud that Business Layers has been selected from thousands of entrants as one of Europe's top one hundred emerging companies for the second year in a row," said Izhar Shay, president and CEO of Business Layers. "This award is further validation that we are providing innovative enterprise security solutions for our customers and fueling the rapid development of the provisioning market."
The list, which will be detailed in the May issue of Tornado Insider magazine, will profile Business Layers and the other 99 most promising and innovative emerging companies in the European IT and biotech sectors.
"These companies are Europe's Elite," said Timothy Weeks, Tornado Insider's Senior Research Analyst. "While much of the tech world continues to struggle, these entrepreneurial vanguards are busy catalyzing the future."
The selection of Business Layers and the rest of the Tornado100 was narrowed from thousands of candidates and judged by the following criteria:
•Delivering an innovation that shows the promise of setting new standards.
•Introducing a major new audience.
•Supplying a key piece of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure.
•Commanding a significant customer base.
•Having the potential to become a global brand or standard.
•Influencing a major market.
•Receiving a significant amount of funding.
•Having a strong valuation for a lucrative exit.
Although the list reflects startups and sectors in different stages of maturity, the Tornado 100 selection criteria favored companies that have clearly demonstrated that the technology they are commercializing today will change the way things are done tomorrow.
